Pastor Fred Michaux

Thank you for sharing some of your time with us today!  We are excited about our approach to discipleship and how we are seeing lives transformed!  I am the lead pastor of a multi-ethnic church, City Life (citylifeva.com), in the Hampton Roads region of coastal Virginia.  After graduating from Randolph-Macon College in 1989, I spent ten years in various management roles before transitioning to vocational ministry.

It was during those ten years I discovered my interest in how models and systems enable people and organizations to thrive.  And during my theological studies through Global University and The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, I began to realize I wasn't transitioning from business studies to religious studies as I had expected.  God was at work in me bringing these two passions together.  He began to create in me a vision for how models and systems aren't just foundational for the secular world but for our spiritual lives as well.  And after decades of study and development, LetsPraxis was born.

And this model is continuing to grow. In 2022, I hope to expand by adding three other modules: Doxa (The Way of Jesus’ Belief), Shema (The Way of Jesus’ Obedience), and Shalom (The Way of Jesus’ Peace). These will complete a 4 quadrant model of Discipleship being added to this current one, Praxis (The Way of Jesus’ Character). All four together will be called The Way.

So what does a pastor’s life look like beyond their vocational calling? For me, I rejuvenate are boating, motorcycles, shooting sports, film, historical biographies/novels, family vacations, and delicious local restaurants.  I am married to the love of my life and together we have three amazing children.  Our home has always been our most important ministry and calling.  There is no one I would rather be with than my wife and children.  They are my greatest joy!
